Navy market survey at NAS Jacksonville, Florida seeking alternatives to a branded ligature-resistant sliding door system for behavioral health rooms, with impact and load performance standards. Responses are market research only; details are in attachments.
Notice of intent to use a brand name product. The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Southeast (NAVFAC SE) is performing a market survey to determine if other potential sources of supply can provide a ligature-resistant sliding door system that has equal performance to the LR-SDS / SL-LR-SDS, manufactured by Accurate Lock & Hardware, 1 Annie Place, Stamford, CT 06902. Fiscal Year 2027 PROJECT P7777 ACC SARP Replacement NAS Jacksonville, Florida, requires the following characteristics. Provide ligature-resistant sliding door system with the following capabilities: Ligature-Resistant Design A sliding door system specifically designed for behavioral health environments that eliminates ligature opportunities associated with conventional swinging doors, including the top edge of the door and side latch locations. The system shall utilize a concealed overhead track, concealed locking hardware, ligature-resistant operating trim, and concealed vertical rod locking or latching mechanisms with no exposed anchor points or accessible cavities. Threshold and Floor Guide An anti-barricade floor guide that allows sliding operation without creating additional ligature points. Optional threshold/transom assemblies shall be available to reduce the bottom door gap while allowing emergency access and maintaining safe operation. Safety and Security Features The system shall reduce opportunities for patient barricading, prevent the door from being used as a swinging weapon, and provide staff override capability for all interior locking functions. Locking functions shall include behavioral health applications such as classroom, storeroom, and self-latching patient room configurations. Performance Requirements The system shall: Meet or exceed a 150 ft-lb impact test in accordance with ANSI A250.13-2014, Section 6.1.1.2. Continue to function following impact testing. Utilize dual ball-bearing carrier assemblies rated at 1,240 lbs dynamic load capacity each. Where required, comply with ANSI/UL 1784 air leakage testing with measured leakage substantially below the allowable code limit. Unique Product Characteristics The system incorporates proprietary concealed track, locking, and staff-override hardware specifically developed for behavioral healthcare applications. The integrated design combines ligature resistance, anti-barricade functionality, smoke-control capability (where required), and behavioral health locking functions within a single system. The LR-SDS has also been evaluated by the New York State Office of Mental Health and is included in the OMH Patient Safety Guidelines.
